Responsibility & Commitment
Now, more than ever, the need for responsible leadership
in the Office of Attorney General is crucial to the State of Louisiana. National
attention has been focused on Louisiana for well over a year. The ability of our
state to effectively respond to the needs of its citizens in times of crisis as
well as in times of normalcy has been questioned. Many of our citizens now question
the ability of government to meet their needs and protect their lives and property.
It is imperative that we respond to this challenge with vigorous, ethical and
professional leadership. We need an Attorney General who will serve the citizens
of Louisiana and protect their rights under the law. As your Attorney General,
I will provide that protection and create an office that is efficient and reliable.
Those who govern should, themselves, be governed by one simple rule -- a commitment
made is a commitment kept. I keep my word. Experience & Competence
For over 28 years, as District Attorney, I have personally involved myself
in the day to day operations of the office. I personally try all major felony
cases and I have achieved a 99% conviction rate. I also actively administer the
three parish offices in my district which covers over 1700 square miles of the
State. The Office of Attorney General needs personal involvement from an Attorney
General who has worked in and completely understands the legal system. Strong
Leadership & Accountability The Office of the Attorney General is
the law firm of the State of Louisiana. It should be an office that stands up
for us when we are mistreated by anyone, whether it be insurance companies after
a storm, government agencies in everyday life, or criminals that prey upon our
families and communities. It should be a leader in these areas and not one that
waits to follow the lead of other states. The Office of the Attorney General must
be run with accountability, not deniability, at its core. The best and the brightest
of our State will work in my office and feel privileged to serve Louisiana. Under
my leadership, the Office of the Attorney General will return to a positive and
professional working environment. Partnerships with Public Officials
My office will take an active part in improving the lives of the citizens
of Louisiana on a local level. As District Attorney, I have had the privilege
of fostering working relationships with Sheriffs, District Attorneys, Constables,
Justices of the Peace and numerous other public officials across the State of
Louisiana. As Attorney General I will assist local law enforcement in all areas
to prevent crime and attack the root cause of most criminal activity-drug trafficking.
The resources of my office will always be available to help school systems in
their efforts to reduce drug abuse among teens and to assist in grant writing
that improves the quality of our children's education. Partnerships
with Local Law Enforcement
I will transform the Office of Attorney
General into a proactive force in state and local government. The first step is
to help provide local law enforcement offices with all of the resources that they
need to protect our state. I will work to bring in joint grant programs to increase
the number of duty officers, to improve drug prevention measures, and to provide
extra funding for local neighborhood watch programs. I will fight for increased
funding for the State Crime Labs so that we can resolve the backlogged cases and
bring closure to the victims of crime in Louisiana. | | | | | | Buddy

Safeguarding
Louisiana's Children
Protecting our children will be another top priority
when I become Attorney General. I will work with all school systems, from K-12
to improve crime prevention, child safety, and DARE programs. My office will work
to increase funding for investigation of internet crimes and sexual predators.
As your Attorney General, my office will stop at nothing to ensure that your children
are kept safe.
Timely and Efficient Legal Opinions
When
public officials and local governments need a legal opinion from the Attorney
General, it should be produced in a timely fashion. I believe that any request
for an official opinion can be resolved within 15 business days, but to do that,
the office needs competent leadership. The current Attorney General is guilty
of waiting months, and in some cases more than a year, to produce a single opinion.
This is because of politics, favoritism, and cronyism. This is entirely unacceptable.
As your Attorney General, I will address the concerns of the citizens of Louisiana
quickly and appropriately.
Open Door Policy
As your Attorney
General, I will be accessible to any person or public official in need of the
services of the Office of Attorney General. My door will always be open, and I
will only be a phone call away. But to accomplish our goals, I need your support.
Please contribute to my campaign or sign up to volunteer. Explore my website further
to learn more about my campaign and the issues for which I stand. I will, with
your support, restore integrity and credibility to the Office of Attorney General.
